PRODUCTION ENGINEER FOR MAYEKAWA NORDIC A/S
Be a part of building a new department from the ground and up
Production Engineer with a focus on maturing the work of the development department and getting it ready for production
Mayekawa Nordic A/S has asked us again to find the right person for a key role in the company. They are a client we know well and enjoy working with, and they are looking for a Production Engineer who thrives where development, production and people meet.
Mayekawa Nordic A/S is based in Middelfart and works as the Nordic development centre for the Japanese Mayekawa group. The company develops industrial cooling systems and heat pumps, and it is best known for the mCHILLER series, which runs on ammonia as a natural refrigerant and reaches high energy efficiency and sustainability that way.
The role
Mayekawa Nordic is setting up a new Industrialization department at its office in Middelfart, and with it comes a new position as Production Engineer. The department’s task is easy to explain and still hard to solve, because it has to make sure that what the development department designs can actually be produced, and you will be the one building the department from the ground up.
The position has no personnel responsibility, but you will be responsible for the technical direction and for making sure tasks get solved and operations run smoothly, while also doing a large part of the technical work yourself. Working alongside you will be a production technical supporter, who is also being hired now, and whom you will work closely with.
Together with the Director of Development, who you report to, you will figure out what the department needs to be able to do, and you will build the workflows to support it. You will have a seat at the table when development and production need to agree on how things can be done better, and even though that sometimes means long meetings, that is also where you make the biggest difference.
Mayekawa has a production unit in Serbia, which you will be in frequent contact with, so you should expect up to 50 travel days a year.
Areas of responsibility
Together with Mayekawa Nordic’s management, you will build the department from the ground up and find, develop and set the framework for how it will work. Your areas of responsibility will be:
- Building the department’s workflows and processes
- Making sure the department matures products thoroughly, so they can move safely from development to production
- Contact with the three partners: development in Denmark, the parent company in Japan and production in Serbia
- Sourcing agreements in cooperation with strategic purchasing
Day-to-day tasks
A large part of your time will be spent on hands-on technical work:
- CAD automation across product families and variants
- Working with product variants and assessing what a change affects
- Design-for-assembly improvements
- Integrating quality assurance into the development processes
- Developing systems for generating customer documentation packages
- Integrating new product features into existing product lines
Your technical background
We care more about what you have done than about what your diploma says. You might be a production technician, production technologist, marine engineer, mechanical technician, technical designer or engineer. You might also be a skilled tradesperson who has built on your trade with further education and many years close to production. What matters is that you have worked where development and production meet, and that you know where things typically go wrong in practice.
You will be the first person in the department, so you need to be able to contribute from day one. That is why you need solid experience with:
- Inventor and Vault, ideally including automation and setting up workflows
- Mechanical design and assembly processes
- Production technology
- ERP and PDM systems
Knowledge of welding, sheet metal work, pipes and fittings is an advantage.
You speak and write English at a level where you can explain technical details and negotiate solutions with colleagues in Japan and Serbia.
Who you are
You take responsibility and don’t wait for someone to ask you to do things, and you are good at seeking out the knowledge needed to solve a task. You are good at building and maintaining relationships, and you are not afraid to take the lead when needed, while also knowing when to step back and let others take the floor.
You have the desire and drive to build systems, improve them and keep them running. You finish tasks rather than jumping straight to the next one, and you find it easy to navigate an organisation that isn’t fully structured yet. Because that is exactly what you and your colleague will be doing: creating the structure that isn’t there yet.
It will be an advantage if you have an interest in or experience with working in an international environment, with relationships and contacts across borders.
Mayekawa Nordic offers
- An independent job with plenty of freedom to plan your own work
- Good opportunities for professional development
- Colleagues with an informal tone and a good atmosphere
- A good salary package including pension and health insurance
- Flexible working hours that fit your travel
- The option to work from home
Your primary workplace is the office in Middelfart.
Are you the one to build the department?
Are you the person who makes things work when a drawing has to become a real product? Can you see yourself sharing responsibility for building something that doesn’t exist yet, while keeping your hands in the technical work along the way? Would you like to make your mark on a department from day one, without having to be a people manager? Then we would really like to hear from you. Whether you have an engineering degree or learned the trade on the shop floor.
Practical information
The ideal start date is 1 November 2026, but the right candidate matters more than the date, so we are happy to wait. That is why there is no fixed application deadline.
We hold interviews on an ongoing basis and close the process once we have found the right person.
So if you want to be part of this, just send us your application.
Important: Your application and CV must be sent via the application link, so your material goes into our recruitment system (GDPR).
About Mayekawa
Mayekawa is a family owned company, founded by Kisaku Maekawa in 1924. Since then it has grown into one of the world leaders in industrial cooling, with more than 4,500 employees across the globe.
The first piston compressor arrived in 1934. Mayekawa has kept developing the MYCOM compressor technology ever since, and today MYCOM stands as the strongest name in the industry.
Natural refrigerants have been at the centre from the very beginning, because Mayekawa takes the environment seriously. Industrial cooling is still the core business, but the company also works with meat processing equipment and with robotics.
About Mayekawa Nordic A/S
Mayekawa Nordic A/S is the development centre for standard chillers and heat pumps under Mayekawa Europe. This is where the mCHILLER Series is developed. In 2021 came the mCHILLER FUGU, a water cooled ammonia chiller, and in October 2022 the air cooled mCHILLER TAKA followed.
The organisation is flat. You ask when you are in doubt, and you help both your team and your manager get things to work.
As a new colleague you join a company at the front of its industry, and one that looks at the whole person. There is a balance between work and private life.
Mayekawa puts real weight on the working environment and backs it up with social activities and an open, honest tone, where there is room for a laugh and room to be who you are, among colleagues who stay. Those values should preferably match your own.
